Ronny asked: The Nintendo Wii has unquestionably established its status in home video gaming. Almost two years after it was first launched, the game consoles continue to be red hot, and it looks like the trend is not gonna stop anytime soon. Contrary to the past when Wii games had always been lacklustre and inferior compared to other gaming consoles, the latest games for Wii are starting to match up, or even surpass the other consoles in terms of quality and demand.
The Games for Wii was never the forte of Nintendo. It was always more of the way that the games were played, rather than the quality of the games. However, it seems that the newest Wii games has turned that tide around, as new releases of Wii games such as We Ski, Wii Fit, Blast Works, and so on are making Wii look like the complete and exciting package that it really shoud be. Then again, with all that overwhelming demand of the latest Wii games, it seems that there has been a case of demand exceeding supply again.
Supply management should always be one of the utmost priorities of any company, and if there was anything to go by, they really should have learnt from the previous lesson when they first launched the Wii consoles. Besides the obvious missed opportunity of revenue, it is absolutely detrimental to their reputation as well. And did I mention that it’s really frustrating when you know that a really cool game has been launched, but you can’t get your hands on it because its sold out? What’s the use of the white gaming machine lying at home if I can’t get my hands on the latest games?
The premium cost of Wii video games does not help things either. As an avid gamer, I naturally want to get the best games, but sometimes the high cost of the games would really make me think twice. And it seems that prices of Wii games do not drop, and usually I end up paying more. Add-ons, accessories - you know they cost more, but you just have to get them! Many a time, I find myself restricting my purchases just to make sure I do not overspend on games.
